Medical Brochure

This brochure is to be informative.  So I have tried to layout my brochure so that it is not visually boring and that someone WILL pick it up for a read.  I have chosen a bit of a shock tactic in the front of a small child handling a prescribed medication bottle (which has the label facing to keep out of reach of children) so that the reader will take notice.  I have also added a colourful pie chart as most people are visual in relation to reading and remembering statistical information.  I kept the brochure blue to be inline with the company logo colour.

Pizzari Menu

This is my menu design for an Italian restaurant.  I wanted it to look a bit classy so I used a lot of browns in my menu.  I designed a different menu with a marble look but the colours printed out horribly so I had to change plan.  The logo is basic and the picture which I have also watermarked in the background is a vector image of Michealangelo's, David.  I ran into some trouble originally with this image as it became terribly pixelated so I had to vectorize it.

I used two different fonts in my layout.  The headings are Baskerville Bold Italic 14pt, Dish titles and cost are Cambria Bold Italic 12pt and the descriptions of the dish, Baskerville Rg 10pt.  I think these two fonts worked quite well together.

Kids Map of Australia

This was a hard one.  I tried to make this look good as well as being educational.  I tried all sorts of things to represent states and I decided to go with floral and animal state emblems.  I named each item as well as wrote out the state name in full and the capital cities of Australia.  I left the background white as I felt that if I put a colour there it would take the focus off the map.  I added the boat and fish to give balance to this design as I put the Australian flower up with the title of the map.  The Title font is Rockwell Extra Bold.  I feel that this gave it an official look while the rest of the font on the map is Tekton Pro.  A less serious font.

Calendar

This is my calendar I have designed.   I have named it the '209 liquid calendar' as all the images are of various liquids.  I had a lot of fun thinking up of some various ways to get effective swirls and colours in the images.  The main challenge was trying to change the font colours so they could be seen against the background.  I printed this a number of times to see if I had chosen the right backgrounds.  The design is a DODECAHEDRAL - a 12 sided calendar.  I really like origami and so I thought I would search for a template that I could use for a calendar.  I found one on a Norwegian Uni site.  I also included my title on the layout of the sheet which was a printed out document stick behind a glass of water.  If you would like to print out - Cut the strong lines and fold the dashed.  Have fun.

War Hero Booklet

I tried to keep this conservative and serious by using Cochin - most of the font is 11pt.  And I have used it in three ways throughout the booklet being either point size or bold italic.  With the images in the background I changed the hue and I decided in the two page spreads that one image should go across the two.  The start of the booklet is about the War Memorial and the Wars that Australia has been involved in and the last part is how we remember the people who fought for our country.
